Attains Largest Market Share
Gain in Gartner Firewall Market

NetScreen Technologies
Inc. (NASDAQ: NSCN) today announced
that it had the largest market
share gain of any firewall security
vendor from 2000 to 2001 in
Gartner Dataquest's recently
released Firewall Equipment
and Software 2001 Market Statistics
report. NetScreen added more
than 65% to its market share
over the one-year period, according
to the report.

continues to demand and reward

according to Gartner Research

"Gartner believes high
speed hardware-based firewalls
will be one of the key building
blocks for security platforms
that will enable enterprises
to proactively prevent intrusions
rather than simply reactively
alarm after attacks succeed.
This will prove to be a required
capability for more effective
security at a lower total cost
of ownership."
The hardware firewall market
is projected to grow at a combined
annual growth rate of 33.9 percent
from 2001 to 2006, according
to the report. NetScreen ranked
No. 3 in the critical high-end
and low-end categories of the
firewall market, the two segments
forecasted to experience the
fastest growth over the next
few years, according to growth
forecasts in the report.
